George and Micheal

Found this awesome artist on a Fecal Face Interview. His name is Eric Yahnker and makes some awesome work. His stuff is really funny but also just SO well done.. frickin master of graphite!

Some of my favourites:

(bible with everything but "beegees" whited out)

His work gave me an idea for a painting... a bunch of bald celebrities rubbing each others heads. Imagine it, "George Costanza" rubbing Micheal Jordan's bald head.. both with giant grins planted on their faces.. Like a giant painting.. like huge ass..

Agent Ribbons

Last week I went to see Camera Obscura and I was pleasently surprised by the opening act. The band Agent Ribbons which I initially thought was called "Ancient Ribbons" is from Sacromento. They are three girls with incredible vintage DIY style who rock out playing witty sing-a-long songs. The lead sing has hair thats dyed such an intense color of orange that me and my friend were sure it was a wig until halfway through the show when we spotted her roots. I hope to see them again, hopefully headlining!

wouldnt you love to love her

ugg! my serger is 100% sick, so i sent it to the doctor... it will be there for over a week. :(

Luckily I have some great concerts to see this week to distract me. Tonight: Mother Mother! I saw them open for Okkervil River at Sled Island last summer and I had never heard them before but I LOVED them. Now Im living in Vancouver (where they are from) and they are quite popular here apparently. Anyway Im super excited to see them.

Then on Monday im flying to Edmonton to see FLEETWOOD MAC! yay, im going with my best friend and its going to be amazing.

because I want to set my heart on fire

Today I put two pieces in my etsy shop. I also started little bundles of projects I have half finished or cut out but havent touched in months. I drew little drawings of what they are suppose to look like so that I dont forget! I think it will be cute to send the drawings with the shirts when they sell. I also realized that I use to take pictures of my clothes with the background of my bedroom door which is red and white zebra stripes. It was the closest thing I had to a neutral backdrop, but I got rid of my tv which was what I put the camera on when I took the pictures, ha! So now in the backgroud of ever picture is my I LOVE JESUS painting.. which is kind of distracting from the clothing! oh well.

almost fell in love with my own shoe size

On the lst of the month I decided to get rid of my TV since I never watch it anymore. The first thiftstore which was just 2 blocks from my house told me that they wouldnt take it because no one buys tvs anymore!?! So I had to walk 6 blocks to another thriftstore, actually the same thiftstore where I originally purchased the tv last summer. While I was there I found this really awesome colorful fabric.. which was good because I was in a bad mood because hauling that tv around the neighbourhood really hurt my back.

Anyway, Im almost done 'The Kite Runner'. Its weird reading a book when ive seen the movie first, usually its the other way around. I think the book is better but its hard for me to seperate them in my mind. When I read the book im imagining the characters as the actors in the movie. Im going to venture to Commerical and find me some vegan food for dinner, im going to attempt to be vegan once a week.

AND... im going to attempt to go shampoo free... with an alternative, im no dirty fool.

one down, nine to go

My sister has been in town for a few days and today was her last day. We spent the day in a park downtown. Both Allisa and I purchased a copy of "Tuesdays with Morrie" from a used book store and we took turns reading the book aloud to each other. She bought a raw burger from Gorilla foods (which was about 90% lettuce) and we split a piece of chocolate hemp seed pie (yum). I spent alot of money this week on vegetarian/vegan food.. so i decided to grab a cheap piece of cheese pizza to take to the park instead of anything on the fancy menu at Gorilla foods. The book is one of the ten books we have choosen for our sisterly book club that we have started for the summer... also on the list are:

The Grapes of Wrath- John Steinbeck

The Picture of Dorian Gray- Oscar Wilde

Less than Zero- Bret Easton Ellis

The Crying of lot 49- Thomas Pynchon

Brave New World- Aldous Huxley

Anna Karenina- Leo Tolstoy

The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy- Douglas Adams

Poisonwood Bible- Barabara Kingsolver

The Kite Runner- Khaled Hosseini
****yummy yummy swedish berries.. vegan too****
